Talking about It

Talk about it

Talking about how you feel can help you in many ways. It can help you deepen your connection with yourself, while deepening your connection with the person you are speaking with.
Talking can help you process, express and let go of your feelings (as can writing, reflecting and listening inside) it can deepen your understandingof yourself by helping you stay with your feelings and go deeper. And it can help you feel heard and accepted and help the other person feel trusted and let in.

If you find hard to speak about your feelings to those around you, you can use counselling or helplines to explore your feelings. Counselling and helplines provides a private place, separate from your daily life, where you can explore issues or feelings which are causing you difficulty. The counsellor undertakes to relate to you in a supportive and purposeful manner and assist you in the task of finding your own way forward.

Your use of counselling remains confidential to the service within the limits agreed with your counsellor.

People bring a range of issues to counselling. Typical examples include difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours, responses to current, recent or past events, relationship struggles, decision making, personal concerns.
